Dairy-Free Strawberry and Seed Smoothie

This smoothie is fabulous. I love it and it is one of my breakfast go-to options. The day I made it to photograph it was made even more delicious because we used organic strawberries. They tasted so lovely and it was so reassuring that they didn’t introduce unnecessary pesticides.  The strawberries were given to me by a friend who had visited a local organic fruit and vegetable  market. How lucky am I? After enjoying these strawberries I have decided to opt for organic as often as possible. This Dairy-Free Strawberry and Seed Smoothie is full of fibre, protein and is dairy free. So, it is great if you are on a restricted diet.

Why do I include seeds? I include flax seeds and chia seeds because they provide additional fibre and protein making this fruit smoothie a more complete drink.  One glass of Dairy-Free Strawberry and Seed Smoothie is enough for me for breakfast and it actually sustains me until lunch. Flax seeds have amazing anti-hypertensive properties – I find they are quite soothing at the start of a hectic day. Chia seeds are full of fibre, omega 3 oils and antioxidants so are a great addition to this drink. Both seeds are full of fibre so are great as part of a weight loss regime. They make the smoothie very sustaining leaving you feeling full for longer.

So Many Benefits

Strawberries are full of vitamin C and antioxidants so are perfect as an immunity booster. I use almond milk in this smoothie because I really enjoy the taste.  It is high in calcium and  I find it gives a lighter feeling than dairy milk. You can of course use the plant based or dairy milk of your choice but at the moment I love almond milk in my smoothies, on my oatmeal and even in cakes.

I find one glass of this Dairy-Free Strawberry and Seed Smoothie is a real pick-me -up and is a fabulous energy booster. It is such an inviting drink – looking and tasting delicious. It’s an easy choice for a nutritious breakfast option or as an afternoon pick-me-up. Give it a try!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 250g punnet strawberries organic if possible
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 dash maple syrup optional

Instructions

  1. Simply add all ingredients to a blender and wizz until smooth and liquified. Simply delicious!
